Continuous education and specialization are essential components for ensuring the continuous improvement and excellence in the clinical practice of healthcare professionals. This study analyzed the importance of these aspects and their impact on the quality of services provided. Continuing education significantly contributes to the enhancement of professionals' skills, increasing job satisfaction and improving clinical outcomes for patients. Additionally, continuous education is associated with higher staff retention and lower turnover intention, promoting stability and efficiency in healthcare institutions. The general objective of this study is to analyze the importance of continuous education and specialization for healthcare professionals and their impact on clinical practice, job satisfaction, and employment retention. To this end, a systematic literature review was conducted. The results of this study indicate that training programs and specialized education are effective on multiple fronts. They improve professional learning and daily clinical practice, help integrate scientific evidence into the work routine, and are perceived as essential for clinical competence and personal growth. These programs are also associated with a higher intention to remain in employment and a lower turnover intention, suggesting that work environments that encourage continuous learning benefit both professionals and patients. The analyzed studies reinforce the need for institutional policies that promote continuous education and specialization, considering them a strategic priority. Investing in professional development programs not only enhances the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals but also improves the quality of patient care. In summary, ensuring access to continuous learning opportunities is fundamental to maintaining clinical excellence, improving patient outcomes, and creating a more stable and committed work environment.
