This article provides a comprehensive systematic review of the main challenges facing public health and the intervention strategies implemented to address them. Key challenges include the increasing prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer, which are exacerbated by factors such as poor diet, physical inactivity, and an aging population. Effective management of these conditions requires robust interventions in both prevention and ongoing treatment, aimed at modifying risk behaviors and promoting healthy lifestyles. Additionally, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases pose significant threats, as demonstrated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed deficiencies in response capabilities and epidemiological surveillance. Strengthening monitoring and response systems is crucial for effective outbreak management. Health inequalities represent another critical issue, with disparities in healthcare access and social determinants of health negatively impacting vulnerable populations. Addressing these disparities requires policies and interventions focused on health equity, ensuring more equitable access to care and resources. Climate change further complicates public health challenges, contributing to increased respiratory diseases, altered vector-borne disease patterns, and intensified natural disasters. Mitigation and adaptation strategies are essential to address these impacts and protect public health. The review discusses various intervention strategies, including health promotion programs and preventive measures aimed at behavior modification and lifestyle changes. Improvements in epidemiological surveillance, equity-focused health policies, and climate action measures are also crucial for enhancing public health outcomes. In conclusion, addressing complex public health challenges requires an integrated, collaborative approach. Evidence-based strategies, ongoing innovation, and cross-sector cooperation are key to improving health and reducing disparities, ensuring a healthier and more equitable future for all populations.
