Abstract

Educational environments encompass administrative, laboratory, maintenance, cleaning, food service, teaching, and assistance activities, resulting in heterogeneous occupational exposure profiles and requiring an integrated prevention approach. This article analyzes, through bibliographic and documentary research, the articulation between Occupational Risk Management (GRO), the Risk Management Program (PGR), the assessment of exposure to physical, chemical, and biological agents, and ergonomics, with emphasis on the updates to Regulatory Standard No. 1 in force in 2026. Official regulations and guidelines issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Labor and Employment were examined, particularly NR-1, NR-4, NR-5, NR-7, NR-9, and NR-17, as well as technical reference documents on occupational safety and health. The analysis indicates that prevention is more consistent when the PGR is treated as a continuous management system, organized by establishment, unit, sector, or activity, and integrated with risk inventories, action plans, occupational assessments, ergonomics, occupational health, and worker participation. In educational institutions, the diversity of environments makes segmentation by work processes and periodic risk review particularly relevant. It is concluded that effective risk management depends less on the isolated production of documents and more on the integration of hazard identification, risk assessment, preventive measures, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
