Dementia-related diseases show significant prevalence, with Alzheimer's disease being the most common. These conditions drastically impair the functionality of affected patients, their quality of life, their social environment, and lead to significant public health expenditures. The treatment of these conditions doesn’t include a curative option and often has limited effectiveness, making prevention the best strategy. In this context, physical activity, the focus of this work, stands out as a fundamental behavioral measure, presenting multiple protective mechanisms against neurological damage and the development of dementia, in addition to being therapeutic for those already affected, with remarkable improvement observed and evidenced in various aspects. Therefore, physical exercise should be widely recognized for this capacity and, accordingly, applied individually to all patients to achieve its numerous benefits.
