Abstract

Objective: to analyze the complications resulting from acute cortical necrosis for the
mother-fetus binomial in cases of premature placental abruption. Methods: integrative
literature review, carried out in August 2024, in the virtual databases Virtual Health
Library, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Capes Periodicals
Portal and Google Scholar using the descriptors “Necrosis of the Renal Cortex”,
“Premature Placental Detachment”, “Pregnancy Complications” and “Perinatal
Mortality” selected by the DeCS and MeSH Descriptors, related to the Boolean operator
AND. Results: after complying with the methodological procedures, 11 articles were
selected, which portray that due to the frequency with which acute cortical necrosis
occurs in patients with premature placental abruption, this group is at highest risk.
Discussion: acute cortical necrosis is a rare but serious condition, often associated with
obstetric complications such as premature placental abruption. Conclusion: Cataract
surgery in diabetic patients represents a significant challenge, but with a careful and
personalized approach, the results can be highly positive.
