ANÁLISE DO PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DA TUBERCULOSE NO ESTADO DE ALAGOAS: UMA AVALIAÇÃO DOS CASOS DE 2019 A 2023

Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease that is transmitted through the air and is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. With a growing incidence globally, tuberculosis stands out as one of the main health problems facing the population. Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of confirmed cases of tuberculosis in Alagoas, based on data provided by the DATASUS health information system. Methods: Data were obtained by consulting the SINAN (Notifiable Diseases Information System) databases. After obtaining the data, a statistical analysis was performed, including the calculation of values, distribution and percentages. To interpret the results, illustrative graphs and tables were created. Results: A high concentration of cases was observed in 2019, followed by a slight reduction in 2020 and a progressive increase until 2023. Furthermore, there was a predominance of males, in the age group from 20 to 39 years old, age groups stand out, on the rise rate of new cases. Geographically, the capital Maceió concentrated the majority of cases, highlighting factors such as population density and unequal access to health services. Conclusion: This study indicated the importance of adapting tuberculosis control strategies in specific areas, focusing on the previously defined epidemiological profile. In short, the need for a comprehensive and differentiated approach to combat tuberculosis and ensure the overcoming of this public health problem stands out.
