Abstract

Stable angina, also known as stable angina pectoris, is a clinical manifestation of coronary artery disease (CAD) characterized by predictable episodes of chest pain or discomfort, usually triggered by physical exertion or emotional stress, and relieved by rest or the use of nitrates. This condition is often a sign of myocardial ischemia, resulting from an imbalance between myocardial oxygen demand and supply by the coronary arteries. This narrative literature review gathered articles published in the last 5 years in the PUBMED database aiming to review clinical manifestations, diagnosis and clinical management of stable angina. It was concluded that stable angina is a chronic but manageable condition that requires a multidisciplinary approach for diagnosis and treatment. A thorough understanding of its pathophysiology, clinical manifestations and therapeutic options is essential for effective management and for improving the quality of life of patients. Early identification and appropriate treatment of risk factors, together with personalized therapeutic interventions, can significantly reduce the risk of serious complications and improve long-term prognosis. Continued research and development of new therapies promise to further improve the management of stable angina in the future.
