Abstract

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women worldwide, both in developed and developing countries. It is a complex and heterogeneous disease, characterized by the uncontrolled growth of malignant cells in breast tissue.

Methodology: A methodology for this integrative review was developed to provide a comprehensive and critical overview of the current literature on breast cancer, focusing on its prevalence, risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment strategies.

Results: The results of the integrative review highlight the complexity of breast cancer and its global prevalence, reflecting a combination of genetic, environmental and behavioral factors. The prevalence of breast cancer varies widely between different geographic regions and population groups, being influenced by factors such as age, ethnicity, family history, lifestyle and access to healthcare.

Conclusion: Breast cancer remains a significant public health challenge worldwide. While substantial advances have been made in diagnosis and treatment, there is an urgent need for more inclusive and equitable approaches to ensure that all women have access to the best care possible.
