Abstract

Emerging infectious diseases in pediatrics are of great relevance today, given the increased incidence of these conditions and their potential consequences for children's health. This review article addresses the main emerging diseases that affect the pediatric population, such as zika, chikungunya, dengue fever, syphilis and congenital gonorrhea, analyzing their clinical characteristics, modes of transmission and associated complications. The article emphasizes the importance of epidemiological surveillance in the early detection and control of outbreaks, highlighting the need to train health professionals to recognize the signs and symptoms of these infections. Furthermore, it discusses the crucial role of education and awareness among families about prevention, vaccination and health care. Public health policies are also addressed, emphasizing the need for investments in infrastructure, vaccination programs and strategies for equitable access to health services. Research and development of new vaccines and treatments are considered essential to combat these diseases. However, emerging infectious diseases in pediatrics require a multidisciplinary approach that combines surveillance, prevention, treatment and research efforts. Collaboration between health professionals, policymakers and communities is essential to protect children's health and minimize the impact of these infections, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for child development
