Abstract

Laparoscopic surgery has revolutionized the field of general surgery, offering a minimally invasive approach that results in shorter recovery time, less postoperative pain, and shorter hospital stay compared to traditional open surgery. In this context, this study aims to analyze recent advances in laparoscopic surgical technique and its impact on the clinical practice of general surgery. Objective: The objective of this study is to review the latest advances in laparoscopic surgical technique in general surgery, highlighting new technologies, surgical instruments, operative approaches, and clinical outcomes. Methodology: The methodology employed in this review included extensive literature research in scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, using relevant search terms such as "advances in laparoscopic surgery," "laparoscopic surgical technique," and "general surgery." Recent studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical guidelines related to the topic were included. Results: This review highlights the most significant advances in laparoscopic surgical technique, including the development of new surgical devices with high precision, enhancements in laparoscopic suturing and dissection techniques, the use of high-definition imaging, and three-dimensional visualization systems. Additionally, there is an increasing adoption of minimally invasive surgical approaches in complex general surgery procedures such as hepatic resections and splenectomies. Conclusion: Laparoscopic surgery continues to evolve rapidly, offering significant benefits for patients and surgeons in terms of clinical outcomes and postoperative quality of life. Technological advancements and innovations in laparoscopic surgical technique are further driving the widespread adoption of this minimally invasive approach in the clinical practice of general surgery.
