PANORAMA ATUAL DA UTILIZAÇÃO DA OZONIOTERAPIA EM PERIODONTIA - REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA NARRATIVA

The present study aimed to address the use of ozone in the prevention and treatment
of periodontal diseases through a narrative literature review to improve and consolidate
this promising niche in the literature. The exploratory research method was used with
a qualitative approach of articles indexed in the Virtual Health Library, PubMed, and
Google Scholar databases, with keywords "Ozone therapy," "Dentistry," and
"Periodontology." In view of the reviewed studies, the toxic effects of ozone are
avoidable by following the protocol indicated for each case, as its effect is promising.
Additionally, the authors cite the use of ozone in three main vehicles: water, oil, and
gas. It is possible to say that ozone becomes a great ally of the dental surgeon in their
clinical arsenal, considering the numerous benefits of its therapy in periodontal
disease.
