Abstract

Endometrial cancer is one of the most common gynecological neoplasms among women, and its association with oral contraceptive use has generated discussions in the medical literature. This study reviewed the relationship between oral contraceptive use and the risk of endometrial cancer, highlighting the mechanisms involved and variations in incidence according to the duration and type of hormone used. The research followed a systematic review approach, encompassing studies published between 2010 and 2023, utilizing databases such as SciELO, PubMed, and LILACS. The methodology involved analyzing data on the incidence of endometrial cancer among users and non-users of oral contraceptives. The results indicate that the use of oral contraceptives, especially combined ones, may have a protective effect against endometrial cancer, although the duration of use and hormonal composition are important factors. The conclusions suggest that more studies are needed to establish clear guidelines regarding the use of oral contraceptives in relation to endometrial cancer
