Abstract

Introduction: Rheumatic fever is a systemic inflammatory disease that occurs as a complication of a streptococcal throat infection, usually caused by *Streptococcus pyogenes.

 

Methodology: To conduct a comprehensive study on rheumatic fever and its hemodynamic repercussions, the methodology to be employed must be rigorous and well-structured. The research should begin with a review of the available literature in the SciELO, Google Scholar, and PubMed databases, aiming to identify, select, and synthesize the most relevant scientific evidence on the subject.

 

Results and Discussion: The most notable hemodynamic repercussions of rheumatic fever are those affecting the heart. Rheumatic carditis can lead to stenosis or insufficiency of the heart valves, particularly the mitral and aortic valves. Mitral stenosis is a common complication, where the mitral valve becomes narrowed, hindering blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle.

 

Conclusion: Ongoing research to better understand the underlying immunopathological mechanisms and the development of new therapeutic approaches is essential to improve outcomes for patients affected by this devastating disease.
