The gut microbiota is composed of microorganisms essential to gastrointestinal health, while probiotics are live microorganisms that help balance the microbiota and strengthen the intestinal barrier. H. pylori causes chronic inflammation in the stomach, leading to gastritis and peptic ulcers; the use of probiotics may help reduce inflammation and improve the treatment of H. pylori. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of probiotics in eradicating H. pylori and their impact on the gut microbiota. The methodology involved an integrative literature review to assess the role of probiotics in eradicating H. pylori. Scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025, in Portuguese and English, were searched in the PUBMED, MEDLINE, and LILACS databases. After selection, 6 articles were analyzed and summarized in a table with identification, title, authors, year, type of study, and results. The results revealed that six studies evaluating the use of probiotics in the treatment of H. pylori infection showed promising results. These microorganisms reduced gastrointestinal symptoms and adverse effects of treatment, improved the diversity of the gut microbiota, and increased the H. pylori eradication rate in some cases. Furthermore, they reduced inflammation and improved the response to treatment. The probiotics studied included Saccharomyces boulardii, Bacillus clausii, Lactobacillus reuteri, Bifidobacterium, Bacteroides, and Lactobacillus. Supplementation with probiotics improved H. pylori eradication and reduced adverse effects of antibiotic therapy. Probiotics increased the eradication rate (79.4% vs. 71.1%) and reduced adverse gastrointestinal events (23.6% vs. 37.7%). They also modulated the oral microbiota and reduced inflammation. Effective strains included Lactobacillus reuteri, L. casei, L. rhamnosus GG, and Saccharomyces boulardii. The results suggest that probiotics are promising adjuvants in the treatment of H. pylori, but more studies are needed. It is concluded that probiotics are promising adjuvants in the treatment of H. pylori, reducing adverse gastrointestinal effects and improving tolerance to antibiotic therapy. Strains such as Lactobacillus reuteri, L. casei, and Saccharomyces boulardii are effective. Although there is heterogeneity in the studies, probiotics are a safe and effective alternative to complement conventional therapy.
