Traffic accidents constitute a significant public health problem, with alcohol consumption being one of the main factors associated with fatal accidents, especially in the state of Rondônia, where recent data indicate a high incidence of events related to human error. Given this context, it is necessary to understand the influence of alcohol on these events, considering its epidemiological, social, and economic impacts. This study aims to investigate the association between alcohol consumption and fatal traffic accidents in the state, as well as to characterize the epidemiological profile of the victims, analyzing sociodemographic, temporal, and toxicological variables. To this end, a quantitative, retrospective, and descriptive epidemiological study was conducted, based on the analysis of toxicological reports from the Forensic Toxicology Center of the Rondônia Technical-Scientific Police, referring to the year 2025, considering sex, age group, municipality of occurrence, day of the week, and blood alcohol levels, using appropriate statistical methods. Thus, a high prevalence of positive blood alcohol levels is observed among fatal victims, with a predominance of concentrations exceeding the legal limit, a higher occurrence among males, young adults, and events concentrated on weekends, especially Sundays. This allows us to conclude that alcohol consumption remains a determining factor in traffic accident mortality in Rondônia, reinforcing the relevance of forensic toxicology in supporting the formulation of public policies aimed at preventing, monitoring, and reducing morbidity and mortality in traffic.
