TRANSFORMAÇÃO DA CULTURA ORGANIZACIONAL: UMA TRAJETÓRIA DE 25 ANOS DE GESTÃO EM ERGONOMIA EM UMA INDÚSTRIA MOVELEIRA

Ergonomics, as a strategy for integrated occupational health and safety management, represents a key pillar in the transformation of organizational culture. This study aims to understand how the transformation of organizational culture occurred in a furniture industry company in Rio Grande do Sul over 25 years of ergonomics management. The study is of an applied nature and, with respect to its objectives, is characterized as descriptive and observational. In terms of technical procedures, it comprises both field research and participatory research.Data were collected through interviews with seven workers from different sectors of the company. Data analysis and discussion were carried out under a qualitative paradigm, based on data categorization and triangulation. The findings indicate that the initial stage of ergonomics management faced several challenges, such as resistance from leadership and difficulties in understanding the benefits of the ergonomics management process. However, following the implementation of improvements, leadership developed a greater awareness of the importance of prioritizing quality of work life. Currently, ergonomics is integrated into the company’s organizational culture through integrated management and teamwork. The study highlights that successful ergonomics management depends on the support of top leadership and managers, respect for all stakeholders involved, appreciation of workers, and persistence of the ergonomics management team.
