Abstract

ABSTRACT: However, in recent decades, there has been a growing movement towards alternative forms of tourism that seek to offer more authentic, sustainable experiences connected with nature. In this context, rural tourism stands out as a modality that combines leisure, culture, and socioeconomic development for rural communities. This qualitative research aims primarily to characterize rural tourism from different perspectives, highlighting in Chapter 1 aspects related to Brazilian rural tourism, that is, its history, the panorama in Brazil, the contextualization, definition, terminologies, highlights, benefits, challenges, and considerations about Rural Tourism, sustainability, perspectives, the profile of the tourist, and the services offered and practiced by visitors. Chapter 2 addresses the incentives for the development of Rural Tourism and the National Tourism Plan 2024-2027. In Chapter 3, based on observation, an inventory is made of the attributes of a rural property located in the countryside of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in order to present possible activities to be developed within the scope of Rural Tourism.
