Introduction: The vagina has a complex and diverse ecosystem known as the vaginal microbiota. An imbalance in this microbiota can lead to vaginal infections, a prevalent condition regarded as a significant public health concern due to its widespread occurrence. The most common infections are bacterial vaginosis, caused by the bacterium Gardnerella vaginalis; vulvovaginal candidiasis, triggered by the fungus Candida albicans; and trichomoniasis, caused by the protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis. Additionally, vaginal infections have a substantial impact on women's reproductive health. Epidemiological studies addressing vulvovaginitis are fundamental for the development of public health policies adressed to women, facilitating the planning of preventive and assistance programs for these conditions. Objectives: To identify the prevalence of vaginal infections in women treated at the Community Health Clinic of the University of Gurupi (UNIRG), their lifestyle habits that may favor these infections, the most common clinical presentations, and the most frequently used diagnostic methods. Methodology: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional, retrospective, and descriptive study conducted through the analysis of medical records of women treated at the Community Health Clinic of the University of Gurupi (UNIRG) between 2022 and 2024. Women aged 18 years or older who were diagnosed with vaginal infections identified by gynecological clinical examination and/or oncotic cytology were included. Women under 18 years of age, those who did not undergo the proposed examinations, and records showing vaginal microbiota within normal standards were excluded. Results: The age group with the highest prevalence of vulvovaginitis in the study was 26 to 36 years (30.76%), with isolated presence of Candida sp., Gardnerella vaginalis, Trichomonas vaginalis, as well as cases of coinfection. Conclusion: Vulvovaginitis impacts women's sexual, reproductive, and mental health. For health improvement, access to and standardization of clinical diagnosis are extremely vital for appropriate treatment of vulvovaginitis, in addition to the need for proper record-keeping in medical records.
